Savannah

Savannah_s3Savannah is a beautiful 4-year-old Siamese mix with striking blue eyes. She was brought to the shelter as a stray in July of 2013 with a non-functioning right front limb. Despite this, she was a lively, kittenish, sweet-tempered cat. Savannah quickly found a foster home. Her foster parent said she chased balls, romped with the other cats, and raced around the apartment, seeming not to recognize that her front right leg didn’t work.

But the leg dragged and was prone to injury. She developed an abscess, and the time had come to either euthanize her, or amputate her leg. This sweet little lady had touched the hearts of the staff and her foster mom, and we knew that we had to save her. Dr. Caitlin McIntosh checked Savannah, and she became the first surgery performed at the shelter that was not a spay or neuter. In October, Savannah had her right leg removed, and did beautifully. The day after the surgery she was purring up a storm, and though she needed to find her balance, she progressed rapidly. On January 28th, Savannah found her “furever” home and was adopted!
