Soki

sokiStaffworks’ significant and ongoing support for local animal rescue organizations helps create success stories like this one.

Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association has been able to spay and neuter resident cats and dogs, and house them prior to adoption, in part through generous donations and animal sponsorships from Staffworks. This Madison County shelter works year round to enhance adoptability and move animals into loving homes.

One adorable adoptable who has benefited from our work together is Soki. She is a lively, talkative tortoiseshell that arrived as a stray from the city of Oneida. Soki is very sociable, with a lovable personality that has captured the hearts of staff members. Poor Soki, however, was not healthy when she came to us. Staff discovered that she had an infection that required immediate veterinary care. Our local veterinary hospital informed us that she needed emergency spay surgery as well as antibiotics. She was rushed to the animal hospital that morning for her spay surgery and supportive care. After a full recovery, Soki is now much happier, and definitely much healthier!

Although she still resides at Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association awaiting adoption, financial support has allowed the shelter to house her until that time. In addition to Soki, many other adorable adoptables have had the opportunity to be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, allowing them to easily be transferred into foster homes, and even move into their forever homes, much more quickly.
